Weingut Franz Bayer
Info:
The Franz Bayer vineyard, now in its fourth generation in Königsbrunn am Wagram, covers an area of 24 hectares, whereby the vineyards are located exclusively on the Wagram. The Wagram stretches about 50 km northwest of Vienna and belongs to the Donauland wine-growing region. The name Wagram is derived from "Wachrain" or "Wogenrain" and forms a loess embankment that accompanies the Danube like a second natural bank for about 30 km.
In addition to the microclimate of the individual single vineyard sites, the Wagram is dominated by the warm Pannonian climate, which offers first-class conditions for the vines. As is typical for the region, white wines predominate at the Bayer winery. However, Franz Bayer Sr. also concentrated on a variety of red wines at a very early stage. Collecting vintage wines has become a great passion of Franz Bayer sen. In the meantime, he can fall back on wines that have been stored in the vinotheque for more than 50 years.
