Family-owned for over 200 years, the winery has been run by Ernst F. Loosen since 1988. Great wines, he believes, are the perfect expression of the soil, the climate and the grape variety. With the heritage of his ancestors - ungrafted, old vines in historic Great Sites of the Middle Mosel - he has found exactly the material he needs to produce independent, complex wines of world class. Today, Dr. Loosen is internationally regarded as the figurehead for a rediscovered German Riesling culture. The winery has been a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) since 1993.
